Wolf and Wildlife Studies

We Need Your Help

During my studies of the Fishtrap pack, I have found myself in the same situation as other independent researchers - a lack of funds to support my research over an indefinite period of time. Funding for wolf research is difficult to obtain. In response to this, I have developed and produced a CD of the Fishtrap pack's vocalizations which is for sale to the public. Profits from these sales have been used to obtain and maintain equipment, vehicle gas to continue surveying for the wolves, and for commuting among local ranches to help promote cooperative efforts to safeguard both wolves and domestic livestock.

Wolf howling CD

Hear a sample of the Fishtrap pack's howls!

Project HOWL has been a great success, and some of these accomplishments can be viewed here in this web site. In fact, I have even found some new things about wolves not yet reported in the scientific literature! Nevertheless, misconceptions and bigotry occasionally end the lives of some wolves. In the past I have found a young pup shot and thrown into a ditch deep in the woods. So educating the public about wolves has been a vital and very successful part of Project HOWL. All of this takes a great deal of time and money, however, and Project HOWL cannot continue to be supported by my limited personal funds.

So if you are interested in how wolves communicate and the sounds they use, the wolf howling CD contains many of the vocalizations of the Fishtrap wolves, including their pups. For more information about the CD, please click on the picture above. Thank you for your support!
